An avenue into a character can come in many different forms: for Amin El Gamal (Prison BreakThe Newsroom) an exercise with collage and watercolor was one in to the character Malvolio in a turn-of-the-century Turkey-set production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. El Gamal still has this art piece created while he was an MFA student at the University of Southern California, and he brought it along to his interview. In this bonus clip to episode 6 of the podcast, El Gamal recalls what his watercolor revealed about Malvolio.

For more about Amin El Gamal’s take on Malvolio, listen to episode 6 of Shakespeare’s Shadows.
